"A diver from NSW has drowned at Waterfall Bay on the Tasman Pninsula. Police said the alarm was raised at 12.30 on Saturday when the man in his late 30's had not surfaced. His body was recovered at 3.15pm"
The sea cave that he was diving is called Dog Leg Cave. It is a safe and enjoyable dive except for one passageway at the very back of the cave that is avoided due to it becoming shallow quickly and hence causing greater than normal surge. It is speculated that he was rammed into the back wall by the surge that would have been present on the day.
It is an unfortunate accident and my condolences go out to all friends and family of the diver.
