Directions: The Looking Glass is a world famous site located at Broughton Island which is approximately a 55 minute boat ride from Nelson Bay or 45 minutes from Hawks Nest. The Looking Glass is a part of the island that is literally split in half. Any of the local dive centres can take you there.
Description: This is an amazing dive site. Essentially it is a swim through of a part of Broughton Island that has been split in half. The swim through is approximately 45-50 metres long and 5-10 m wide. The swim through is amazing as you are surrounded by 16-18m sheer cliff faces on each side with an abundance of fish life within the middle. There are schools of sweep, puffer fish, gropers, Port Jackson sharks etc. At times there are also Grey Nurse sharks. There are also a number of smaller swim throughs within the large swim through formed by over hanging ledges & boulders.

Be warned, there is usually quite a bit of surge going through the middle of this swim through, however, I found it to be quite fun once you get used to the backward & forward pushing. Just take this into account if you attempt to go both ways during a dive. A very recommended dive for all levels of divers.
