The Dungeons

Location: Cape Schank near The Arch
State: VIC
Diver Qualification: Open Water
Average Depth: 10mtrs
Max Depth: 15mtrs
Average Visibility: 10mtrs
Access Type: BOAT
Directions: Travel south along the coast from Flinders untill you reach the Arch at Cape Schank. To the right of the arch is a cave in the cliff face like a blow hole. This is part of the dive. Drop a shot line about 15m out from the shore line to the right of the cave.

WARNING this dive can only be done in very calm conditions.
Description: Descend down the shot line and swim towards the cliff. You will come across a wall covered in marine life. Follow the wall to the left and around a corner and you will see a crack which is the entrance to a swim through that takes you into a sinkhole type hole that is in the cave entrance. Be aware of the surge that may push you through the swimthrough. Once in the sinkhole turn around and go back out. There is not much in there but ground down rocks that formed the hole.

As soon as you are out of the swimthrough, ascend up the wall to the right and over the top at 3m and you will see another small sinkhole to the left that is joined to another by an arch. In these two holes the walls are covered with orange and yellow fans among other stuff. Exit the second hole by swimming over the wall to the left and you will be in a gutter. Follow the gutter to the right and you will end up in the "Shark Cave". The Shark Cave is another hole that usually has one or two layers of Port Jackson sharks covering the bottom. If you turn around and follow the gutters back out you will come accross your shotline or the area you came in at.

The bottom is made up of course sand/shellgrit and round black rocks. On the top of the ledges it is covered in kelp.

This area has some fantastic dives but be WARNED about the surge and diving there with ANY swell. Enjoy!
