We could start a whats for dinner thread...

Tonight I had salad using lettuce I raided from my mum's garden, she's away, so it would only go to seed... and my garden. Really ought to water it more often... And avocado from a fellow scuba diver's farm. They are SO yummy and so much better than my local veg shop.

Which doesn't really make up for having steak and chips at a family reunion lunch... But I did make a deal with another chubby cousin, that we'd go for morning walk next week and I have her phone number... She lives in same suburb as me so shouldn't be too hard.

Hopefully all my little hiccups from last few months are behind me. Been for the odd walk but not much else lately. Going for a double dive tomorrow. Not sure where i am up to with work, credit crisis has hit the resources, about 40 gone from the mine i was working at. If there isn't a gym i guess i will be walking/running a lot more.

Went for a 55 minute dive today, 1st one since Hawaii in September and the water was much colder. As soon as Bub has afternoon tea we are off for a walk, approx 1 hour.

Jumped on the scales yesterday and have lost 5kgs from when we started, made me very happy!

Moved house Saturday and forgot what a workout that was! I was a tad sore yesterday...

New month brings new goals, I sat down with my partner yesterday and made use of her profession as a nutritionist by taking me through how to read labels etc, got alot out of it and identified a few areas where my eating habits can improve. I might even get her to join diveoz and get her to post things on here if people want to know about something they get confused by, just a thought...

Looking forward to another good month before Christmas...

Hi all

Actually went for a walk today. Knocked on neighbour's door to see if he wanted to walk his beagles - there's two, and they can't be separated, and I can't handle the both of them on my own... Said hi to the beagles but he wasn't surfacing. Later he said something about early moring F1 Race. The finish was a bit exciting as one bloke took the championship off the race winner in the last lap by finishing fifth.

So my plan was to walk 30 minutes but I think it took an hour because um, I kept stopping to chat. And I thought these were dormitory suburbs. Wrong. [B)]

Put bread mix in the bread maker, forgot to put the yeast in. fortunately remembered before it got to bake so we're starting the mixing cycle again - I hope it forgives me.

Had salad for lunch. I'm thinking a whole clove of raw garlic in the salad dressing might be too much? Bits are stuck in my teeth now...

Spent about 90 minutes in knee deep water chasing my bub around. Its amazing how little fear she has, she walks towards the deeper end with the water up to her eye balls and keep going with a smile on her face then when i would grab her she would laugh her head off. So not quite the same as 1KM swim but still exercise.

These fitness challenge threads open to all?

I have to do something before the Christmas "stack on" and need something to keep me motivated. I commend you al for being so dedicated [^w^]

Although - have you considered the expense incurred should you need to drop a size in w/suit and BC? [;)]

So anyways...I'm off to a slow and steady start - taking the puppy Brutus round the neigborhood for 45 mins.

...I'll start using my gym membership again soon

.....maybe ;)

Mmmmmmmmmm- not many of us seem to have this problem! Its more a case of fitting into wetsuits we already have that have succumbed to that mysterious phenomenon that causes them to shrink over winter or any other long period of not being used.......[^()^]

I walked up 7 storeys of stairs, in a friend's office tower. And I was puffing a bit when I got to the top but my knee was ok. First time I've done all 7 since the op.

Also went for a walk around town for an hour or so, unfortunately that did more to slim my wallet than me. [^|^] But I feel good about it.

Attempted a ride tonight, but just wasn't feeling "it". About 5kms in and I was strugling for energy, forgot drink bottles and combined with tiredness and a cr@p day at work, I just turned around, cut my losses and went the quick way home. Total was about 7.5kms...Fingers crossed tomorrow is a better night!

Well I'm off to a very slow start...just walking the dog daily.

Nothing like Weights and Kickboxing [^?^]

I'm hoping the extra stress of work (or the fact that I may be soon out of work) will shed the kilos?? (Maybe?)

Know that feeling Matt...... I had annual leave the Friday my area at work was made redundant & found out via a friend who saw it on TV! I tend to eat when stressed apart from one recent occasion when I lost 1.3kg overnight!!

Walking the dog daily is better than nothing. I find it a bit of chill out & unwind time especially if I am walking in an off lead area & Indigo dog is having fun running wild) and that will also do you good if you are stressed about work.

re Walking the dog: I totally agree. You can't be miserable around your pet - they always seem to be able to perk you up!

I quit working long hours at work because work didn't pay any extra for that.

But now I work for myself it's a bit different. Actually did some real work this morning which was moderately stressful because I had no idea why the system was broken but then we sprung several users doing the wrong thing - a thing that they should not have been able to do, so we fixed it. Which is a relief.

I hate when you ask the client site what they changed and they say nothing. But in fact - they have made major changes. last time they did the equivalent of deleting the windows folder and wondered why the system refused to start.

Not much exercise - unless making lamb roast for dinner counts. Was a lot of standing up. My feet hurt now. But I am fairly sure that despite stress and standing up and a bit of gardening, and house cleaning, that calories in will have exceeded calories out. I was probably square until I decided to make chocolate sauce to go with the banana cake and icecream. [^|^]
