My
name is Charles Maxwell. I live in Cape Town, South Africa. As we have a
cold current on our west coast and a warm current on our east coast we
have a great diversity of marine life. Therefore, I can dive on the cold
but richly coloured Atlantic Ocean reefs or travel to the northern part
of South Africa to dive in the warm Indian Ocean where there are plenty
of sharks and dolphins to film.
I started diving in 1968 and soon began taking underwater photographs. I
became interested in filming for television in 1987 while assisting
Swiss film maker, Gerald Favre, in Namibia with "Le Souffle du Dragon",
a TV documentary about the discovery of the largest underground lake in
the world and "La Croix du Sud" about diving in South Africa. Since then
I have worked with many foreign production companies including the BBC,
Discovery Channel and National Geographic Society. |
